Adam Weitsman, president of Upstate Shredding – Ben Weitsman & Son, has announced that he is donating $100,000 to help residents in Owego and Tioga County, N.Y., who were affected by flooding caused by Hurricane Irene.
“This community has been home to my family for generations,” Weitsman says. “And now, Owego and Tioga County need our help and support. Kim (Weitsman) and I are happy to help in any way that we are able.”
The company says nearly every commercial building in Owego was damaged by the flood, including Ben Weitsman & Son on Main Street, which suffered a $5 million loss and is closed until further notice.
The company adds that Ben Weitsman Owego customers can bring their scrap to the Upstate Shredding facility in Binghamton, N.Y.
