UNTHA, headquartered in Kuchl, Austria, has expanded its line of products with the launch of its QR series of shredders. UNTHA says that with the QR series, operators can avoid unscheduled downtime with the next generation of single-shaft shredders.
The QR series was developed over a two-year period, and UNTHA worked in cooperation with users on the series. In addition to maintenance-free pusher technology, the technical highlights of the product include a resilient drive system that comes with a safety coupling, the company says. In contrast to standard units, the QR series does not require a shaft stub; the gears are integrated in the rotor. This results in a significant reduction in repairs, the company says.
Another technological feature of the QR series is the multifunctional flap that allows quick and easy access to the cutting chamber for emptying the hopper and removing foreign objects. Furthermore, the pusher may be cleaned in an ergonomic and safe position, the company says.
The machines also feature a high-resolution touch-screen display, intelligent pusher controls, long maintenance intervals and quick and safe access to all machine components.
“Close cooperation with our customers throughout the entire innovation process was an essential factor in the success of this project. All technical features were inspired by the wishes and requirements of users with plenty of practical experience and therefore offer tangible added value,” says Stefan Pischon, UNTHA head of research and development.
The QR series ranges from a rated capacity of 22 to 180 kilowatts and a cutting unit width of 800, 1,000, 1,200, 1,400, 1,700 and 2,100 millimetres.
UNTHA shredding technology develops and manufactures customized, reliable shredding systems that are used in a wide range of applications, from material recycling to the processing of waste to produce alternative fuels.
