Austrian company installs new UNTHA preshredder

A.S.A. Abfall Services installs new generation XR3000R preshredder at its headquarters facility in Himburg, Austria.

UNTHA Shredding Technology of Kuchl, Austria,  reports that the Austrian waste management company A.S.A. Abfall Services AG  has integrated a new Untha XR3000 shredder into its operations in Himburg, Germany.

The company had used UNTHA’s predecessor model, the XR2000, and decided to upgrade to the new model in late 2013. UNTHA reports that by mid-2014, the new XR3000R was fully incorporated into the company’s operations.

A.S.A. offers waste disposal services for municipalities, industry, trade and commercial enterprises and private customers throughout Austria. The company handles a range of materials, including hazardous materials. The company says that its operations are demanding and require rugged equipment to handle the heavy and continuous loads, which is the sort of work the UNTHA preshredder XR3000R was built for, the manufacturer reports.

Engineer Johann Handler, site manager of A.S.A. Wiener Neustadt, says the preshredder’s rotor length of 3,000 millimeters has proven to be ideal, especially when processing bulky waste material such as mattresses.

“The shredder is energy efficient (less than 4 kilowatt hours per metric ton) and requires little maintenance,” says Handler. “Compared to previous models, the XR3000R is considerably more resistant to extraneous materials and much quieter. The robust design—particularly regarding the thickness of the cutting chamber wall—and increased cutting power significantly contribute to the machine’s reliability."

Handler also comments on the XR3000R’s quiet, energy-efficient and low-maintenance eco drive system and user-friendly maintenance features.

Christian Lanner, product manager for UNTHA, observes, “The XR3000R signals the dawn of a new era in the field of efficient and modern waste shredding.”

UNTHA says the latest XR preshredder sets new standards in the recycling of household, commercial and bulky waste. Designed to provide minimal operating costs at maximum performance, the XR3000R offers UNTHA’s Eco Drive for reduced energy consumption reduced by up to 50 percent, the company says. According to UNTHA, the water-cooled drive motors require no fresh air supply and are safe in the event of thermal outages.

The preshredder also features a compact design, making installation in existing systems easier, while the low charging height ensures a smooth feeding of material into the shredder with a wheel loader, the company says.
