The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has issued a public notice for comments in regards to Universal Recycling Technologies seeking a permit to operate an electronics recycling in Clackamas, Ore.
The facility already is operating. However, the state’s DEQ has determined that the facility needs to have a solid waste permit. The facility continues to operate during the permit application process. In addition to its Oregon facility, URT, headquartered in Janesville, Wis., has processing facilities in Maine, New Hampshire, Minnesota and Texas.

The company is located in an area surrounded by other industrial and commercial activities, with few residences within one quarter mile of the facility.
Deadline for comments is June 21, 2010. Comments can be sent to the following: URT Processing Comments, c/o Holly Pence, Solid Waste Permit Coordinator, DEQ Northwest Region, 2020 SW 4th Ave., Suite 400, Portland, OR 97201, Fax: (503) 229-6945, E-mail: Pence.Holly@deq.state.or.us.
