United Glass, of Harlow is investing £1.2 million (US$1.7 million) in packaging revenue to upgrade its glass recycling and processing plant at Kelliebank, Alloa in Scotland.

The plant currently receives and cleans more than 50,000 metric tons of glass packaging waste a year.

To improve output quality and increase use of recycled glass UG has worked with Binder & Co, a leading European specialist in processing technology, to develop a fully automated process.

Contaminant residues such as ceramics must be further reduced to meet the stringent glass quality and color standards set by customers, said UG. AFX
