Unisphere Waste Conversion Ltd. has completed the acquisition of Crumb Technologies Inc. in St. Gilles, Quebec. Crumb Technologies is a tire baler and shredder in the Province of Quebec and is accredited under contract with Recyc Quebec to remediate scrap tires in the province to comply with the Quebec Ministry of the Environment's legislation to empty stock piled tire sites by 2008. Recyc Quebec is Quebec Government agency mandated to assist in the clean up all provincial tire sites.
Unisphere previously acquired the tire supply at the Grenier Tire Site in Franklin, Quebec, one of the three largest scrap tire sites in the province, containing approximately a 5 to 7 year supply of feedstock for Unisphere's Tire Derived Products ("TDP") facility.
The acquisition of Crumb Technologies, together with the Grenier Tire Site, provides Unisphere with the raw material and the capability to bale, shred and remediate scrap tires. This combined operation is expected to generate cash flow while Unisphere is constructing its first TDP facility.
Unisphere expects to generate revenues primarily from the sale of the products derived from the Unisphere TDP System. The ultimate objective of Unisphere is to become a world leader as a recycler of scrap tires using tire pyrolysis technology to produce mainly recyclable carbon black, as well as oil, gas and steel.Latest from Recycling Today
