UltraShred Teams up with Manufacturer

Rahco brings manufacturing, engineering skills to partnership.

Rahco International Inc., a long-time Spokane, Wash., equipment manufacturer, has signed an agreement with UltraShred that the two companies hope till boost the operations of the mobile shredding equipment company.

In a business alliance arrangement signed earlier this month UltraShred, LLC, a maker of mobile shredding equipment, will be relocating its operations to the space where Rahco operates.

UltraShred has been in operations for five years, while Rahco has been making conveying, excavating and material handling equipment for around 60 years.

Under the arrangement Rahco will perform the manufacturing and some of the engineering and design work for UltraShred.

According to local reports Rahco feels the move will allow the company to diversify its revenue base so it’s less dependent on big projects for its revenues.

Currently, UltraShred buys most of its truck chassis from Freightliner and contracts with other manufacturers for some of the body and shredding mechanisms needed for the mobile shredders, then does assembly and some fabrication work at its 16,000-square-foot shop on Thierman.

Under the new business alliance, Rahco might end up manufacturing the bodies and shredding mechanisms for UltraShred or helping it find less-expensive vendors for them, Hanson says.

While Rahco will involve itself in the construction and design of shredders, UltraShred will continue to stay focused on the market and sales of the equipment, although Rahco will provide some sales expertise for international sales.
