Earlier this week Ukraine’s President Leonid Kuchma signed the law “On the Export Duty on Scrap Metals,” according to the president’s web-site.
Earlier, on Nov. 28, the Verkhovna Rada overrode the president’s veto on the above law, which was adopted by the parliament on Oct. 24, 2002. The law fixes the export duty on scrap ferrous metals and metal ingots meant for remelting at the rate of about $30.25 per ton.
