Four Rivers BioEnergy Inc., which operates as Verta Energy, says it is in the operational testing phase of the electricity generator at its Northumberland, United Kingdom, used cooking oil-to-electrical energy plant.
In June, the company announced the purchase and installation of a Cummins 1 megawatt (MW) generator, scheduled to be the first of several generators installed at the plant.
Stephen Padgett, the group chief executive of Verta Energy, says, “We’re very pleased with the initial operational testing results, which have validated that our Customised Generator Fuel is substantially as efficient as fossil-based diesel, but with significantly reduced green house gas emissions.”
According to Sean Mahoney, who is involved in the Northumberland project the generator is located in a former Glaxo penicillin manufacturing plant.
