UK Glass Recycler Expands

Recresco parlays funding from government agency to purchase equipment.

Recresco, formerly known as Midland Glass, has been able to expand its reprocessing capacity thanks to lease funding on four pieces of equipment. worth a total of £300,000 (US$541,000). The company is located in the United Kingdom.

The lease deals on two glass separators, one color glass pre-sorter and a plastic baler were all arranged with Bank of Scotland Asset Finance through eQuip, the lease guarantee scheme run by the Waste & Resources Action Programme.

Recresco is the second company in the UK to lease equipment with the help of the program, which was set up earlier this year.

“We couldn’t have carried out such a major upgrade and business expansion without access to lease funding through the eQuip scheme,” says Recresco director Eric Gent.

The two new separators and color pre-sorter will be added to existing glass reprocessing plant.

“The separators remove non-glass items and will improve throughput, efficiency and product quality,” says Gent.  “While the new pre-sorter will enable us to color sort 20 metric tons of glass an hour – an improvement of 13 metric tons per hour on the previous machine.
