Recent figures from the United Kingdom’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, notes that the household waste in England that has been either recycled or composted has topped goals set forth by the UK government. The goal for 2005/2006 was 25 percent. DEFRA figures show the actual recycling and composting rate at 27 percent, a 4 percent increase from the previous year.
