The Environment Agency, an agency of the United Kingdom, announced that Andy’s Autos has pled guilty to two charges related to depositing, keeping and treating waste without a waste management license. The plea was made March 2. The company is an automotive dismantling facility in Cosely, UK.
The initial charge against the company was made by the Environment Agency under Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. The company was fined £1000 and ordered to pay costs of £1308.60.
According to Iain Storer, an Environment Agency Environment officer involved in the investigation, said: " Vehicle dismantlers must now have a Waste Management License. This detailed document sets out features and procedures that must be in place to protect the environment and human health. We have been proactive in informing such businesses of these obligations and take very seriously any failure to meet them."
According to the EA, the company refused to comply to multiple requests made by the agency to obtain a Waste Management License to be in compliance with the legislation.
