The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is looking for comments for its National Strategic Plan, including goals involving C&D recycling.
Currently the agency includes a goal that specifically calls out C&D debris as a material to focus on, but has no percentages as to how much needs to be recycled.
According to William Turley, executive director of the Construction Materials Recycling Association (CMRA), “No one really knows how much C&D is generated and how much can be recycled, which is certainly one reason this section is blank in the plan. We plan on providing comments to the EPA to help this situation.”
The CMRA also plans on providing recommendations to reach any goals that are specified in the plan.
Comments are due by March 31, 2006.
