Brussels to host 24th Annual European Tyre Recycling Conference

Theme of the annual event is Defining the Circular Economy for Tire Recycling.

The European Tyre Recycling Association (ETRA), based in Brussels, will be holding its 24th Annual ETRA Conference on Tyre Recycling 22–24 March 2017 at the NH Hotel du Grand Sablon in Brussels. The theme of the conference is Defining the Circular Economy for Tyre Recycling. The ETRA says that the conference will focus on an industry to industry and business-to-business opportunities that will lead toward market growth.

The ETRA says it is the only pan-European body that represents the independent tyre recycling sector in Europe.

The conference will hold a number of Plenary Sessions that address a range of issues pertinent to the European tyre recycling industry. The topics include the following:

  • Producer responsibility and eco-design
  • Technical rubber and polymer compounds using ELT materials
  • Examining the opportunities for use in road construction
  • Expanding markets in urban construction – membranes, concrete, trams and trains
  • The many opportunities for pyrolytic materials

Technologies and products also will be presented, along with the standards for evaluating their characteristics. A summary of the Forum will be part of the discussion on meeting demands for sustainable new materials, which include devulcanisates, compoundable powders, granulate among others, as well as metals and textiles in various formats.

Data collected on the markets for pyrolytic outputs will illustrate how this sector is promising as a means of generating high returns for those who manage to control the input and the output to obtain products with consistent standards within the environmental constraints set out in European and National environmental laws.

The final activity of the conference will be a ‘Matchmaking Event,’ which is an opportunity to bring companies together for future collaborations. The programme is being offered in cooperation with Impulse Brussels, a partner of Enterprise Europe Brussels, the largest European service network for SMEs.
