Tulsa, Okla.-based American Waste Control, the parent company of Tulsa Recycle and Transfer (TRT), says it has been awarded Tulsa’s exclusive multi-million dollar recycling contract. The official decision was handed down Thursday, Jan. 26, from Tulsa’s Trash Board.
“We worked very hard to show how valuable our recycling services were to the Tulsa community and what a difference we could make,” says Tom Hill, CEO of TRT, American Environmental Landfill and American Waste Control. “We’re proud we were chosen for this prestigious contract as the best company to lead the charge in providing for a cleaner environment for our city.”
American Waste says it’s well-prepared to begin expanding recycling operations for Tulsa and is looking forward to serving its new customers once the collection process begins.
“As a company, we are very thrilled to do all we can to help provide for a cleaner place to live,” Hill says. “There’s really no other local company that has done as much for the waste collection services in Tulsa as American Waste and TRT. We love being the recognized leader in creating a cleaner Tulsa and look forward to serving our community for generations to come.”
The TRT material recovery facility (MRF), which the company calls Mr. Murph, is able to process and reclaim more than 80 tons of recyclables per day from the waste stream, according to American Waste Control.
American Waste officially launched its MRF in March 2011. Today, the facility enables Tulsa to recycle more products than ever before, including plastics, aluminum, cardboard and paper, because of its advanced automation, the company says.
“Our new contract with Tulsa means we can be even more effective as we provide brand new customers with the very best in recycling services in Oklahoma,” Hill says.
American Waste and TRT have 40 drop-off sites throughout Tulsa. A list of these locations is available at www.feedmrmurph.com.
