Tube City IMS Corp., Pittsburgh, a company providing steel mill services to customers throughout the world, has announced that it has received 48 Safety Awards from the National Slag Association (NSA) for 2013. The awards were presented during the NSA’s fall meeting in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The NSA is dedicated to promoting the use of blast furnace and steel furnace slag.
The safety awards recognize superior performance as measured against Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable injury rates.
The company adds that the 48 awards it received is the most ever received by any individual steel mill services company.

The company’s operation in Knoxville, Tennessee, received the award for “2013 Most Improved Job Sites for Safety.”

Company sites in Canada receiving safety awards for “Lowest incident rate” for employees were Hamilton, L’Original, and Nanticoke, Ontario; and Regina, Saskatchewan.
