Tube City IMS Corp. Granted Trademark Registration for Software Program

Company's GenBlend program is raw materials optimization.

Tube City IMS Corp. has been granted a registration from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the mark GenBlend as used in association with one of the company's proprietary software programs.

"The GenBlend+(R) brand of real-time raw materials optimization software includes a materials planning, procurement and utilization platform that we believe is the most advanced and comprehensive resource management solution in the steel industry," said Joseph Curtin, president and COO of Tube City IMS, Tube City Division.

"The benefits of the GenBlend+(R) brand software include flexibility in using a wider range of scrap grades, including optimal use of internally generated scrap and inventory control, which result in quantifiable cost reductions," Curtin said. "The program is customized to address the specific characteristics of the mill at which it is installed. This allows steel producers to achieve significant savings by optimizing their purchasing and utilization of input materials, specifically scrap metal, to obtain the lowest cost liquid steel for every heat produced."
