TSR Recycling GmbH & Co. KG, along with two partners, has opened a new scrap metal trading office in Denmark. The newly formed company, called TSR Danmark ApS, will act as a trading company, according to TSR’s management group. The goal of the joint venture operation is to increase the trading volume from Denmark and Scandinavia, which the company says will ultimately strength TSR Group’s position.
The Danish office will be 80 percent owned by TSR, headquartered in Bottrop, Germany; 10 percent held by Torben Smedegaard, who is a senior executive with TSR; and Flemming Bo Nielsen, who will join the company as a director on March 1, 2011.
TSR Recycling is one of the largest metals recycling companies in Europe, with more than 130 locations and 2,000 employees throughout the world. The company handles about 6 million metric tons of scrap metal per year.
According to its website, TSR is 60 percent owned by Remondis AG &Co., 20 percent owned by the Cronimet Group and the remaining 20 percent owned by the Italian steel producer Alfa Acciai.
