The dates are nearing for two Professional Recyclers Qualification Training (PRQT) courses being offered by the Carolina Recycling Association (CRA).
The first of the three-day series of courses is being held Oct. 17-19 in Greenville, N.C., and the second Nov. 2-4 in Charlotte, N.C.
The training course is billed as a way to “strengthen the skills and knowledge base of recycling professionals.”
Attendees of the program will receive a comprehensive manual, and once the course has been successfully completed the attendee will receive a certificate of completion and recognition and acknowledgement as a Qualified Recycling Professional.
“Their leadership is important to the development of recycling efforts throughout the Carolinas,” says CRA Executive Director Kerry Krumsiek regarding the attendees. “We’re very excited about creating this new dimension to our membership services,” adds Krumsiek, noting that the training is the beginning of a long-term educational initiative to bring recyclers up-to-date course work focused on the needs of the recycling community in the Carolinas.
The course was developed in collaboration with the CRA Education & Outreach Committee, the CRA Board of Directors, state partners the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance (NC DPPEA) and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC).
The PRQT is part of the CRA’s Carolina Recycling University (CRU), designed to provide comprehensive, professional, in-depth, training opportunities for recycling and solid waste professionals in the public and private sectors.
The CRA can be contacted at (919) 545-9050 or visited on the Web at www.cra-recycle.org/trainings.htm.
