Toxco Inc. has acquired Moltech Corp.’s cadmium recovery facility and equipment for recycling nickel cadmium batteries in Gainesville, Fla. As part of the purchase, Toxco Inc. has acquired the exclusive licensing rights to the technology originally developed and patented by Eveready Battery.
"The acquisition of this technology takes Toxco one step further in our long-term goals of handling all battery chemistries," said Steven Kinsbursky, president of Toxco Waste Management. "The ability to recover cadmium and nickel from batteries gives our company a significant source of raw materials for producing down-stream products in combination with our chemical manufacturing abilities"
The Gainesville facility is expected to come on line early next year. Toxco will relocate the process and recycling activities to their Ohio facility, using a combination of the Moltech equipment and other technology that Toxco has developed.
Toxco, Inc., headquartered in Anaheim, Cal., is North America's only battery recycler of both primary and secondary lithium batteries. The company has facilities in Trail, British Columbia; Columbus, Ohio; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Oakridge, Tennessee; and Gainesville, Florida.
