City officials in Red Bank, N.J., have voiced opposition to the plans of a local recycling company to switch construction debris from trucks to trains, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press (Neptune, N.J.).
Red Bank Recycling has presented plans to the Monmouth County Solid Waste Advisory Council to have the company designated in the county solid waste plan for a transfer station for construction debris. The company is seeking permission to build a 100-by-130-foot transfer station where construction debris would be sorted through for recyclables before being loaded in 100-ton railroad cars on two new sidings.
Red Bank officials have cited the company for beginning construction on the new sidings without permission, according to the report.
