Houston-based TotalEnergies Petrochemicals & Refining USA Inc., an affiliate of TotalEnergies, which is based in Paris, has announced its participation as a funding partner of the Polypropylene Recycling Coalition. The Recycling Partnership brought together stakeholders including brands, retailers, manufacturers, resin converters, reclaimers, nongovernmental organizations and industry associations to form the coalition in July 2020. The coalition provides grants to material recovery facilities (MRFs) to install equipment in their facilities to better sort and capture polypropylene (PP).

TotalEnergies reports that its collaboration with the Polypropylene Recycling Coalition will focus on increasing curbside recycling access for PP to ensure this packaging material is widely recovered and reused in end markets, including food and beverage packaging, consumer products and automotive parts.

“TotalEnergies is pleased to partner with The Recycling Partnership's Polypropylene Recycling Coalition as part of our company’s ambition of producing 30 percent recycled and renewable polymers by 2030,” says Paul Colonna, vice president, Polymers Americas at TotalEnergies Petrochemicals & Refining USA Inc. “We are committed to strengthening the recycling and circularity of polypropylene and working with our customers to develop innovative products with ever-higher performance, particularly in terms of the environment.”
