Toronto Event Focuses on Electronics, Batteries

ICM hosts recycling event in early June.

The Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto will serve as the site of an upcoming recycling conference focusing on electronics and batteries.

 

Switzerland-based ICM is the organizer of Electronics & Battery Recycling ’08, taking place June 4-5 at the downtown Toronto venue.

 

Among the topics and speakers at the two-day event:

 

  • Cindy Coutts of Sims Recycling Solutions will moderate a panel entitled, “Challenges in the Worldwide Electronics & Battery Recycling Business.” The panel includes Douglas Smith of Sony Electronics Inc.; Alfred Hambsch of GEEP Inc.; Mark Tomaszewski of battery recycler Inmetco Inc.; Eric Harris of ISRI; Allen Hershkowitz of the Natural Resources Defense Council; Jill Ledger of SAFT in France; and John Gerretsen, Canada’s Minister of the Environment, has been invited.

 

  • “How do OEMs Close the Recycling Loop?” features speakers from the Recycling Council of Ontario, Hewlett-Packard, Pitney Bowes, the ESPC program in Canada and Canon Canada Ltd.

 

  • On the topic of battery recycling, speakers include Steve Heddle of Inmetco Inc.; Linda Biagioni of Black & Decker Corp.; and Paul Berto of Home Depot.

 

  • Advances in electronics recycling technology will be a topic addressed by Mike Biddle of MBA Polymers Inc.; Wolfgang Bose of MeWa Recycling Maschinen und Anlagenbau GmbH; Alfred Hambsch of GEEP Inc.; and Patrick Lampert of RUAG of Switzerland.
