The Tomra Recycling business unit of Norway-based Tomra is going to host a webinar titled “Aluminum recycling industry outlook - key sorting technologies, innovations and opportunities in a circular economy” May 20. The webinar will start at 3 p.m. Central European Standard Time, which is 10 a.m. Eastern Time in the United States.

“The aluminum recycling industry is constantly evolving and adapting to an increasing demand for this highly versatile material that results [in part] from a rise in electronic vehicle (EV) production, the trend toward more lightweight cars and the outstanding features this nonferrous metal brings to numerous industries,” states the company.

In the 45-minute webinar, attendees will have the chance to learn more about the aluminum recycling industry in general and recent innovations in sensor-based sorting technology. The latter topic will be addressed by Tomra staff members Tom Jansen and Terence Keyworth.

In addition, Patrik Ragnarsson, a senior manager automotive and transport at the trade group European Aluminium, will address trends in the automotive sector, including the increase in EV production and will the role aluminum plays in that sector.

“First-hand experiences in the scrap recycling landscape and the importance of having advanced technologies in place” will be the topic of remarks by Edward George, commercial manager at United Kingdom-based nonferrous processing firm Alutrade Ltd.

“A rise in demand offers a valuable proposition for the industry as it strongly encourages more sustainable production that, in turn, supports the industry on its progress towards greener aluminum production,” states Tomra.

A closing question-and-answer session will provide an opportunity for attendees to seek additional detail on topics that have been presented. Registered attendees also can listen to recordings of the presentations after the event concludes, Tomra says.
