The new TomCat high-compaction side loader offers a lighter-weight, small-bodied manual side loader that can be mounted on lighter-weight chassis providing more fuel-efficient engines. The unit can help speed collection times because of its high-compaction rated body, high strength-to-weight ratio and fast cycle times of 14-16 seconds, according to the manufacturer. The Tomcat can be manually loaded from both sides or equipped with a semi-automated cart dumping option. Additionally, compaction can be operator-controled to allow for recyclables collection.
The TomCat is also capable of satellite transfer into a larger rear loader. Satellite units are currently being employed in rural neighborhoods and are also useful for collecting special routes where maneuverability and less noise is important, such as parks and recreation areas, parking garages, gated communities and other narrow street settings. The Tomcat high-compaction side loader is available in 6-, 8-, 10-, 12- and 14-yard bodies.
