TMS International Names Director of Marketing for Optimization Group

Sara Hornby will be responsible for research, strategic planning, technical business development and sales and marketing.

TMS International Corp., Glassport, Pa., the parent company of Tube City IMS Corp., has named Sara Hornby director of marketing for the optimization group segment of its raw materials and optimization group. She will be responsible for research, strategic planning, technical business development and sales and marketing.

“Research and development is a vital driver of innovation for the company," says David Aronson, president and COO for TMS' raw material and optimization group. "The company’s ongoing mission is to continually develop new processes for its customers and to further enhance its technological research capability. Our customers expect innovative service offerings, and Sara will help drive that goal. She will add strong leadership, structure and marketing presence, and compliment our software engineers, as well as our account technicians who operate our liquid steel and alloy models with our customers."

Previously, Hornby was a principal at Global Strategic Solutions, Charlotte, N.C. She also worked at Process Technology International Inc., Midrex Technologies Inc., Tenova Goodfellow, Air Liquide and British Steel Corp. In a number of her prior positions, Hornby was instrumental in developing melt technology enhancements for steel manufacturers.
