The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DNRE) has announced that more than 73,000 scrap tires have been removed from two illegal disposal sites in southwest Michigan through scrap tire cleanup grants.
L.H. Automotive Recycling, Niles, Mich., received a Scrap Tire Cleanup Grant from the DNRE for the removal of 42,000 scrap tires from its site, while more than 31,000 scrap tires were removed from Joe's Auto Salvage in Three Rivers with a similar grant.
Entech, Inc., a scrap tire processor located in White Pigeon, Mich., was hired by both grantees to remove the scrap tires.
