East Coast Industrial Services announced plans to build a $3 million facility to recycle used tires into small chips that will, in turn, be converted into tire derived fuel. Additionally, the company plans to operate an industrial site cleaning servicing.
The facility is to be built in Manning, S.C., and will occupy four buildings. Most of the shredded tire chips will be sold to LaFarge Cement Company, Harleyville, S.C. However, the company is looking to increase its customer base as its capacity increases.
Ted Campbell with the South Carolina Recycling Market Development Advisory Council, said, “East Coast Industrial is meeting the alternative energy needs of the cement and pulp industries by using recyclable materials. Clearly, tire-derived fuels are becoming an integral solution to the increasing demand on non-renewable energy sources.”
