Thermo Fisher Showcasing Analyzer

Company will be demonstrating product at Power-Gen show.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. will be demonstrating its Thermo Scientific Niton XL3 800 Series and XL3 900 Series analyzers at the Power-Gen International 2007 show, Dec. 11-13. The Thermo Scientific Niton XL3 800 Series provides fast alloy grade identification and laboratory-quality composition analysis of metal alloys ever performed with a handheld XRF analyzer.

Typical time for routine positive grade identification is less than 2 seconds, as much as four times faster than the company’s previous generation of instruments, increasing sample throughput and user productivity.

For immediate, nondestructive, laboratory-quality chemical analysis of aluminum and titanium alloys, as well as nickels, superalloys, stainless steel, and more, the company offers the Niton XL3t 900 Series.

The NITON XL3t is the highest powered x-ray tube ever offered in a handheld XRF analyzer and provides advanced electronics that enable a host of new features. The XL3t 900 Series, with its helium purge measurement head, takes the analytical capabilities of handheld XRF to a new level, all but eliminating the need for OES instrumentation in the field for analysis of magnesium, aluminum and silicon," says Jon Shein, Thermo Fisher’s director of global marketing for the Niton Analyzers business unit.

End-O-Line Changes Name, Direction

Disappointment with WEEE causes firm to restructure with increased turnover as a result

End-O-Line Services has changed its name to EOL IT Services after turning its back almost entirely on the recycling market.

The firm draws 90 percent of its sales from IT services, installations and equipment relocation. With this in mind, the company has shifted its corporate image to reflect the change in its business model and market trends. Previously the company focused its business exclusively on recycling and data security.

Richard Parker, managing director of EOL IT Services, denied the change had led the firm to miss out on recycling opportunities around the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment directive.
