The Houston-Galveston Area Council, a collection of regional Texas government agencies, is taking a close look at the possibility of using pulverized glass as a supplement to sand at beaches in the state.
According to a number of local press reports, the agency is considering applying for a grant to implement the pilot program. The group hopes to use this to begin the process in 2005.
The group evaluated the recycled glass earlier this month and came away impressed with the possibility. According to the Associated Press two beaches in Texas are being looked at as places where the recycled glass could be used.
