An article in the Jackson Hole News & Guide, Jackson, Wyoming, reports that Teton County commissioners are considering a price cut of 20 cents per pound for electronics recycling.
The price cut was proposed by the county’s Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling division, which signed a contract with ECS Refining, a recycling company based in Santa Clara, California, that pays for end-of-life electronics.
“This is the first time ever that we’ve found someone who’s environmentally responsible and not going to send it to China and is certified and sustainable and will pay us for it,” Division Chief Heather Overholser told the newspaper.
ECS Refining will pay the division 3 cents per pound of material.
