With alternative daily cover (ADC) made from C&D materials under scrutiny by some regulators and segments of the landfill industry, the CMRA will be embarking on a project to develop a standardized testing method for the materials.
Among the questions the CMRA project should help answer include: Determining a sample method of ADC to produce a true representative description of the aggregate of the product; determining an appropriate test method for sulfates; and including in the report details why testing for other sulfur compounds are not necessary.
According to William Turley, executive director of the CMRA, it is expected this project will be turned around quickly and results will be available early in 2005.
