Terra Nostra Resources Corp., a leading copper producer in China through its 51 percent joint venture interest in Shandong Terra-Nostra Jinpeng Metallurgical Co. Ltd., reported that it has received an update on the progress of construction at the Joint Venture Company's new electrolytic copper production facility.
The first phase of the expanded facility is scheduled for completion next month, with production to begin by the end the year. This is expected to add about 40,000 metric tons a year to the total electrolytic production capacity of the venture.
In addition, the second phase is expected to start operations by the second quarter of next year, bringing another 40,000 metric tons to the existing production line. This will add a total of 80,000 MT to our existing annual capacity.
The company also announced that upgrades have begun on another facility the company operates in China. This upgrade is expected to increase the annual output capacity of the existing line by as much as 50 percent, resulting in a total capacity of 50,000 metric tons by the second quarter of next year.
