Temple-Inland has announced that it will cease production at its Phoenix and Evansville, Ind., corrugated packaging converting facilities effective June 27, 2010. Approximately 89 people will be affected at the Phoenix facility and 80 people at Evansville.
“We regret the loss of jobs and in no way is this a reflection of the hard working employees at these locations. However, we believe this is a necessary step toward improving our competitive position within the industry,” says Dennis Vesci, group vice president, corrugated packaging.
The company’s corrugated packaging operation consists of 7 mills and 60 converting facilities. The building products operation manufactures a diverse line of building products for new home construction, commercial and repair and remodeling markets.
