Texas Disposal Systems (TDS), based in Austin, Texas, has started its first residential single-stream contract that includes its “Bag-the-Bag” program in Georgetown, Texas.
The program allows TDS to collect both single-use plastic bags and plastic film. Through the program residents can place plastic films in a special stuffer bag that can be placed in the curbside recycling cart. Currently the city of Austin does not offer any of these items in its curbside collection and recycling program.
Meanwhile, TDS notes that a plastic bag ban in Austin will be going into effect at all retailers, starting March 2013.
TDS says it is the largest independently owned solid waste collection and recycling company in Central Texas. The company serves customers in San Antonio, Georgetown, San Angelo and Alpine.
