The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Austin, has announced the first-year results for Texas’ computer recycling program, which requires computer manufacturers that sell in the state to offer consumers free recycling for their computer equipment. As part of this program, last year, manufacturers collected for reuse or recycling 12.4 million pounds of computer equipment.
Currently, 81 manufacturers representing 116 brands are participating in the program, the TCEQ says.
Texas consumers can learn how to recycle their computer equipment by visiting TexasRecyclesComputers.org. The site provides a link to each manufacturer’s program as well as additional information for consumers, manufacturers, and retailers.
More information on the program is available by contacting the TCEQ’s Pollution Prevention and Education section at 512-239-3143.
