The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality approved an agreed order assessing Waste Management of Texas, Inc., $244,420 in fines for various violations at its Austin Community Recycling and Disposal Facility in Travis County.

The agreed order results from five investigations performed at the landfill site during 2002 and 2003. As part of the agreed order with the TCEQ, Waste Management will pay $122,210 for a Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) Agreement. Waste Management will contribute $25,000 to Travis County to clean up illegal dump sites located in Travis County within a three-mile radius of the Waste Management landfill. The remainder of the SEP amount will be contributed to the Travis County Walnut Creek Erosion Control Project to clear out debris including trees and municipal solid waste from Walnut Creek.
