Taghleef Industries, a Newark, Delaware-based manufacturer, has launched its Shape360 TDSW, a floatable white polyolefin (PO) transverse direction (TD) shrink sleeve label film. According to Taghleef, this new film delivers optimal opacity by maintaining the low-density properties essential for recyclability, mirroring the company’s clear counterpart, Shape360 TDS.
The company says Shape360 TDSW enables the application of opaque white labels to clear polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, improving print quality with its glossy finish while still supporting the reuse of PET bottle material in bottle-to-bottle recycling.
A key feature of Shape360 TDSW is floatability, achieved through its low density. This characteristic facilitates efficient separation of PO label flakes from rigid PET bottle flakes during the recycling process, resulting in cleaner PET recycled material and a reduction in plastic waste. According to Taghleef, the film is designed for high ink adhesion, preventing ink bleeding during recycling and ensuring the purity of recycled materials.
When used on PE containers, the labels and containers are part of a single PO-compatible recycling stream, Taghleef says.
"This new white polyolefin shrink sleeve film represents a significant leap in labeling innovation," says Diana Dedeic, product manager at Taghleef Industries. "Building upon our existing Shape360 portfolio, which includes clear options in 50-, 45- and the recently added 42-micron thicknesses, this development underscores our dedication to fulfilling market needs for diverse and thinner solutions optimized for recycling."
Key features of the Shape360 TDSW include light protection, floatable film, printing flexibility and flexible shrink performance, the company says.
Taghleef says all films within the Shape360 portfolio are designed to ensure industry-leading recyclability standards, offering solutions for sustainable packaging formats.
