Syracuse to Host Recycling Event

New York State group sets “Go Green” Earth Summit for Oct. 16-18.

Central New York will be the scene of three days focused on the “three Rs” (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) when the New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling (NYSAR3) hosts two consecutive events there in mid-October.

The annual state recycling conference, to be held at the Genesee Grande Hotel in Syracuse, will start things off on Oct. 16. NYSAR3 bills the event as “an opportunity for recycling experts and representatives from government, industry, nonprofit organizations, and individuals to discuss and promote best practices for reduction, reuse, and recycling initiatives.”

Highlights include workshops on preparing a New York State solid waste plan and effective grant writing. NYSAR3 will also present its Recycler of the Year Award and recognize the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation recycling calendar poster contest winners. Those interested in registering can find more information at www.nysar3.org.

The following two days the International “Go Green Earth Summit” will take place at the Nicolas J. Pirro Convention Center in Syracuse. Open to the public, this event is being billed as featuring national and international experts presenting on environmental action plans for educational institutions—from elementary schools to universities.

More information on this Oct.17-18 event can be found at www.GoGreenInitiative.org.

NYSAR3 is a coalition of more than 150 businesses, nonprofits, government agencies and private citizens who support recycling programs and related educational programs. It is a state affiliate of the National Recycling Coalition.
