Sweed has introduced the newly redesigned SG1840 granulator, which the company says offers upgrades that promise to boost performance, durability and ease of use.
The Gold Hill, Oregon-based manufacturer says that while the previous version of the SG1840 set a high standard, the redesigned model delivers greater efficiency, reliability and ease of use. The SG1840 has been reengineered with several enhancements:
- streamlined knife handling with a horizontal front knife bed for easier gapping, a new knife gage for quicker adjustments and toggle clamps for toolless hood access, simplifying knife changes and maintenance;
- a shorter stand height, eliminating the need for an additional platform and providing easier access for operators;
- structural enhancements that include a thicker base and front plates for added rigidity and reduced vibration, a sturdier drive guard for extra durability and a rotor that’s welded and machined for precision and long-lasting performance;
- removing the idler side flywheel, with its inertia being integrated into the drive sheave, resulting in improved efficiency and reduced maintenance;
- a spring-loaded belt tensioner to maintain consistent belt tension as the belt stretches and wears;
- an electromagnetic door latch that allows for easy, tool-free entry and a smaller motor platform that provides better access to the rear of the machine;
- top and bottom housing mating faces that are machined postwelding for improved fit;
- a redesigned multiple-piee front hood wear plate for consistent fit and one-person installation;
- reversible screens that offer longer life and more consistent performance; and
- compatibility with multiple feeding options, including screw, belt or pneumatic conveyance systems.
Sweed provides recycling equipment, including wire chopping lines, scrap choppers and a range of other scrap handling solutions.
