Sweed Machinery Inc., an equipment manufacturer based in Gold Hill, Ore., is touting its scrap chopping equipment.
According to a company press release, Sweed’s scrap choppers can chop linear steel, plastic or other material into small pieces at the point of generation for easy recycling and a space-saving ratio of up to 20-to-1. By eliminating excess clutter and material handling cost, the scrap choppers can promote safety, reduce overhead, and create new revenue via value-added recycling to scrap dealers, the company says.
With the help of Sweed choppers, companies are now finding an opportunity in how they handle scrap, especially in this difficult economy. They're recycling steel and plastic straps, as well as production scrap at the point of generation, Sweed says. The company’s choppers help to reduce costs, promote good dock-keeping and create significant new revenue streams. Since the straps are chopped and stored at the point of origin, virtually all handling is eliminated, the company says.
