Liz Garavaglia has been appointed as the marketing and public relations coordinator for the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), Silver Spring, Md.
In her new role, Garavaglia will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the association’s public relations and media outreach program; will oversee the marketing of several of SWANA’s products; and will manage the production of the association’s two regular newsletters.
Garavaglia, a recent graduate of George Washington University in Washington, D.C., was an intern at SWANA last year. She was also a part-time member of the marketing staff briefly following her graduation.
While she was with SWANA, Garavaglia worked on a variety of projects, including creating a new media kit and coordinating SWANA’s WasteCon (SWANA’s annual convention) media trade-out program.
SWANA is a trade association of companies and people in the solid waste management field with more than 7,000 members. The group offers technical conferences, certifications, publications and a number of technical training courses.
