Sunnking relocates e-scrap facility

The company says the move will allow it to add equipment and employees.

Sunnking, an electronics recycling facility located in Brockport, New York, has completed its move into a 204,000-square-foot office and processing facility, nearly double the size of its previous location.

“With our growth in volume, we simply needed more room and have been looking for a larger facility for the past few years,” says Duane Beckett, Sunnking CEO.

The new facility has provided the company with the space needed to add new processing equipment and labor to increase processing speeds. Since completing the move Nov. 1, 2016, the company has hired 40 employees and has added a second shift to process material.

Among the new pieces of equipment operating at the plant will be a heavy-duty Shred-Tech shredder that will be used to separate and process commodities, which will maximize recovery for the company. The shredder also will allow Sunnking to perform hard-drive shredding at its corporate facility.

Going forward, the company says it is looking to further automate its e-scrap facility.

The new facility includes new offices for management and personnel and a 10,000-square-foot inventory production area for its refurbishing team. As a Microsoft-certified refurbisher, Sunnking says it is looking to grow the asset management and value-added reseller segment of the business to maximize its reuse division.

“We want to provide a better work environment for our current and future employees at Sunnking. I think this facility really reflects our commitment to them and the future growth of the company,” says Adam Shine, Sunnking vice president. “We will continue to reinvest in the business.”

In addition to its Brockport location Sunnking has facilities in Buffalo and Syracuse, New York.
