Suncor Energy will host a ribbon cutting ceremony June 3 to celebrate innovation in tire recycling at its oil sands facility in Canada.
The event will showcase technology to be used to shred tires worn out through use in oil sands mining, enabling them to be recycled. The portable shredding technology is designed to shred the oil sands truck tires - the largest off-road tires in the world.
The portable shredding technology is owned by CuttingEdge Tire Recycling, a limited partnership between Denesoline Environmental Ltd. Partnership and Beaver Environmental Rubber Technologies Ltd.
Once recycled, shredded tires can be used by the Alberta Recycling Management Association.
