Suez lines up projects in South China

France-based firm involved in several recycling and environmental efforts in Hong Kong, Macau and South China.

France-based Suez and its regional partner in China have announced their involvement in several environmental services efforts in that part of the world, with several of them focused on recycling.

Hong Kong-based Suez NWS has recently signed several recycling, waste recovery and water contracts in what it refers to as the Greater Bay area, a region in South China that includes Hong Kong, Macau and much of Guangdong Province.

Among the recycling efforts is a contract to manage and operate a glass crushing facility in Macau. “This has demonstrated SUEZ NWS’s commitment to work with the local government to push ahead with the development of a circular economy and the Greater Bay area as part of the national strategy,” says the firm. Recycled glass aggregate and sand will be reused on roads in the city to reduce reliance on natural resources.

In Macau and the city of Zhuhai, adjacent to Macau, the company will take part in large-scale waste water treatment projects.

Suez NWS Limited is a joint venture between Suez and NWS Holdings Limited involved in solid waste and recycling and water treatment and management in China and other parts of Asia. Suez NWS has some 8,000 employees. It is involved in the waste management sector in Hong Kong and manages environmental services to 12 industrial parks in China.
