Suez Environnement, through its Australian waste management subsidiary SITA Environmental Solutions, has acquired the waste management businesses of WSN Environmental Solutions from the New South Wales government for €174 million ($230 million).
“This is a strategic acquisition for SITA Australia, enabling us to strengthen our position on the commercial and municipal waste market, and for SITA Australia to become the leader for this market in Australia,” says Jean-Louis Chaussade, director general of France-based Suez Environnement.
The acquisition includes three storage centers, two resource recovery facilities, eight transfer stations and three recycling units.
The acquisition is expected to be complete by the first quarter of 2011.
