Union employees of Strauss Industries’ Northern Panhandle Scrap Metal operations in Weirton, Wheeling and Steubenville, Ohio, have rejected a 5-year contract offer. The employees are members of the USW Local 88501.
According to published reports the employees will work under the existing contract until it expires this coming May, and then negotiate for a new contract.
Strauss is a major supplier of scrap metal for Wheeling-Pitt’s electric arc furnace operations.
