Strategic Materials, which recycles both glass and plastics, was sold by Lincolnshire Management Inc. to Willis Stein & Partners earlier this month. Strategic generates sales of more than $128 million a year, and employs close to 1,000 people.
Three years ago Lincolnshire acquired a plastics reprocesor called NexCycle. Soon after Lincolnshire acquired Strategic Materials, which handled glass. The two acquired companies were then merged together under the Strategic Materials name.
Strategic Materials has more than 30 plants and/or depots scattered through the United States.
