Sweden’s Stena Technoworld, an operating unit of the Stena Metall Group, has acquired the MP Ambiente Group of Italy. MP Ambiente operates three plants in Italy that handle waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE): Elettro Recycling in Milan and R.P.S. Ambiente and Videorecycling, which are both in Verona.
“The acquisition of MP Ambiente is a significant step in the implementation of our growth strategy in the Southern European market,” says Phar Oscar, managing director of the WEEE business area in the Stena Metall Group.
The former MP Ambiente plants will operate under the name Stena Technoworld.
“We believe that the acquisition of MP Ambiente will significantly strengthen our position in an area of the country that has an important collection of WEEE,” says Alexandre Comino, country manager for Stena Technoworld’s operations in Italy. “Moreover, we will be able to enlarge our service offer to our clients and increase our geographical reach.”
Stena Technoworld entered the Italian WEEE market in early 2009 with the acquisition of Siat, a WEEE recycler operating in the Brescia area.
