For the eighth edition of its Stena Circular Economy Award – Leader of Circular Economy program, Stena Recycling Poland, a processor and trader of recycled metals and other materials, will accept nominations from beyond Poland.
The company has launched an international category for the eighth edition of the awards, for which the nomination process began Jan. 7.
The Stena Recycling Poland business unit of Sweden-based Stena Recycling says the awards nomination process provides an opportunity for companies, startups and students to showcase their sustainability activities, share innovative solutions and inspire others to make positive changes.
“Companies implementing circular solutions in a market other than the Polish one” is the full name of the new category. The companies may or may not have an office registered in Poland.
“The modern world is moving toward a closed-loop economy, and the role of business in this process is crucial,” says Aleksandra Surdykowska of Stena Recycling. “Consumers increasingly expect companies to be transparent and take concrete action to protect the environment."
She says the Stena competition identifies circular economy leaders who demonstrate that the circular economy is successfully replacing the traditional model of linear production and consumption.
Previous winners of the award include BASF Poland, IKEA Retail, Jeronimo Martins, Allegro and Carrefour.
Nominations for the Stena Circular Economy Award are being accepted through Feb. 16, and the award ceremony will take place this spring.
